Nailsworth's First Skip Back to Nailsworth Index
Until the coming of the 'Nailsworth to Stonehouse' railway (1864), Nailsworth homes were built in local stone. The railway enabled Stonehouse brick to be used and much of today's centre, linking former hamlets, is built in brick. The backs make an interesting pattern and this view, looking towards the gardens, shows the first "skip" used to collect recyclable rubbish.
